I was seriously waiting for her the entire time to say something like "Canada? I thought that was a state!" OTL

Someone actually said that!? (I think it actually was at one point, that would be an interesting thing to go into, States that where once nations, like California, Texas, and Hawai'i.)
Then again, the govenor of Texas wanted to leave the Union, or at least he said so about a year ago. People are stupid sometimes.

Yes, someone said that. The teacher asked for nations of the west, and he asked one girl for an example and she said California, xD. Then no-one but me and my Hetalia friend remembered Canada...

Yes, California was a nation for about 27 days before America came and made it a state.

Haha, some crazy people think that California should split into a North and South bbecause the North and South are so different from each other.

O.o wow. I seriously think that our nation is slowly loosing brain cells.

Ya, I've heard about that, I used to live in California when I was little but then I moved. The north and south are really different though so I can kinda see that.
At least they still don't think they're a nation. In Texas they make students say a pledge every day right after the Pledge of Alligence "OTL

I haven't traveled the north extensivly, and I haven't been up there for a while, but I live in the south so I know that htey'tre very different. People always think of LA when they think of California, which leads to all those lovely SoCal stereotypes...

Really? You say a different pledge after the Pledge of Allegiance?!? I haven't said the Pledge of Allegiance in class daily for years, much less anything else!

Ya, those kinda annoy me. Even though I'm from the Northern US I lived in the Northern half, but I only have been the the southern part a few times when I was really little. (Disney Land = <3)

Ya, after the United States pledge everyone turns to the Texas flag, which is usually the same height as the American one, because apparently that's legal in Texas because they're "the ONLY state that was once a country".

Here it is for your educational experience:
"Honor the Texas flag.
I pledge alliegance, to the Texas, one state under God
One and Indivisable."

(and then the school tells everyone to be seated for a moment of silence.)

It will never cease to be baffling that I, a Spanish in another continent, knows more about states in USA than some AlfrediansXD
