Character Theme Songs

Post  TheJediPenguin on Mon Aug 23, 2010 9:00 pm

So are there any songs you like for specific characters or pairings?

Songs I've found:

Fairytale by Alexander Rybak for Prussia/Hungary

You Belong With Me by Taylor Swift for onesided Prussia/Hungary on Prussia's side

I Won't Say I'm in Love from Disney's Hercules. I can make this song fit quite a few pairings and viewpoints...

You Are 16 Going on 17 from The Sound of Music for Switzerland/Leichtenstien

and the lastfor now, Viva la Vida by Coldplay for England.

I think one of the best songs for Germania-san is "Hey wir sind Heiden" by Rabenschrey(Yes, it's the melody of Pippi Longstocking.^^"): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBf7C-9aSN0&feature=search
my try of an english translation:
Spoiler:
Hey, we are heathen, Valleri Vallera Vallahopsasa.
Hey we are heathen and do what we want.

There’s only one god,
widde widde witt and he has horns,
if he had none
Yaes, then we’ll burn him.

Hey, we are heathen, Valleri Vallera Vallahopsasa.
Hey we are heathen and do what we want.

Odin is our God,
widde widde witt, who has two ravens,
Jesus was different,
surrounded by twelve boys.

Hey, we are heathen, Valleri Vallera Vallahopsasa.
Hey we are heathen and do what we want.

If a Christ comes here,
widde widde witt, then we’ll beat him.
If he comes again,
Well, then he’ll be badly off.

Hey, we are heathen, Valleri Vallera Vallahopsasa.
Hey we are heathen and do what we want.

And if a broad comes here,
widde widde witt, or maybe two,
We’ll take them with us
Even if one of them kicks.

Hey, we are heathen, Valleri Vallera Vallahopsasa.
Hey we are heathen and do what we want.

The teutonic knight is big,
widde widde witt, my arrow' ll hit him,
If the arrow won't hit him,
then he’ll feel my axe.

Hey, we are heathen, Valleri Vallera Vallahopsasa.
Hey we are heathen and do what we want.

even though its german and not spanish, I think this one[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLflSfsfqdo&feature=related] fits Spain. the singer is just repeating "Tomatensalat"/tomato salat agian and again for the whole song. Very Happy

For the relationship of Denmark/Sweden I really like "I hate everything about you" by Three Days Grace:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1WROMzlXjw&feature=search

medieval and ancient Skandinavian- In the navy(Muppet show): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTwq1_9VH68&p=7EFC3EA00967BBCF

I like all of these songs, even though I've never heard any of them before.

I think my favorite of them is Die letzte Schlacht though, I can see how it represents Germany and Prussia's relationship...

Wasn't the 20th aniversery of German reunification day last year? I wasn't following world events back then...

It's great isn't it? i just love this song. :3
I chose it because, after my interpretation, it is about the people who don't aggressivly revolt against the 'system' but nevertheless, the 'system' ist not strong enough to surpress them for ever. Sooner or later these people will find a way to change their situation, because a folk has a lot of individuals, who think what they want and aren't completly evil.

Yes and No. Last Year was the 20th anniversairy of the fall of the Berlin Wall (9.11.1989), afters this the negotiations between the governments of the two german states begun, on 31.09.1990 the unification treaty was signed and since 03.10.1990 the former GDR is part of the BRD. Very Happy

[Btw: todays date 71 Years ago was the beginning of the military campaign in Poland. Sad )

Yes, it's a wonderful song! I just wish I didn't need translations, I want to learn your language so badly!

Ok, thanks for clarifiying!

I don't have much of a problem with remembering the date of the fall of the Berlin Wall because of the freakout I had when I saw the date written European style the first time ((Americans write the date with the month first, so it would be 11-9-1989)). 9/11 has a different meaning over here...

Congratulations on 20 years of unification!

Just checking here, BRD stands for Bundesrepublik Deutschland right?

Beside the many victims and deaths, it must be also a big shock for the american people to know that their country is not invulnerable. 9/11 I had a day free from school and my motherand I sad in front of the TV watching the live transmissions and were totally shocked. A friends father died in the World Trade Center this day.
the 9. November is a pretty famous date in german history a lot of historical significant events happend at this date.

Yes, BRD stands for Bundesrepublik Deutschland, the GDR (German Democratic Republic) is called DDR (Deutsche Demokratische Republik) in german.
